Grace Eleanor Mitchell Obituary: Remembering Boyd Buchanan Student Lost in 2021 Sequatchie County Crash

Grace Eleanor Mitchell, a radiant 17-year-old from Dunlap, Tennessee, was called to join the Lord on November 10, 2021. A devout member of Chapel Hill United Methodist Church and a proud Junior at Boyd Buchanan School, Grace shone both academically and athletically. She was a key player on the Lady Bucs Volleyball team and also competed for the Scenic City Volleyball club.

Grace is predeceased by her maternal grandparents, Gary and Peggy Mitchell. She leaves behind her loving parents, Dusty and Jennifer Mitchell, and her siblings: Meredith Robbins (Peyton) of Raleigh, NC; Austin, Brody, and Cain Mitchell, all of Dunlap, TN. She is further survived by her paternal grandparents, Tommy and Martha Austin, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins who will cherish her memory.

A memorial service will be conducted on Saturday, November 13, 2021, at 2:00 PM at Chapel Hill United Methodist Church. Officiating the service will be Bro. Matthew Lee and Bro. Jared Wood. The burial will take place immediately after at Chapel Hill Cemetery. The family will welcome friends and loved ones for visitations on Friday from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Ewton Funeral Home & Cremation Center and again on Saturday from 12:00 PM until the time of the service at the church.

Pallbearers for the service will include Thomas Austin, Taylor Frost, William Martin, Cooper Jones, Brook Potteiger, Heath Frizzell, Shawn Edgmon, and Austin Mitchell. Honorary pallbearers will be her teammates from both Scenic City and Boyd Buchanan Volleyball teams.

Rather than flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Chapel Hill United Methodist Church Building Fund, Boyd Buchanan School in memory of Grace, or to the Sequatchie County Softball Boosters.

Grace Eleanor Mitchell, a 17-year-old resident of Dunlap, Tennessee, passed away on November 10, 2021. She was an active and beloved member of her community, deeply involved in both her church and school. A junior at Boyd Buchanan School, Grace was also an athlete who participated on the Lady Bucs Volleyball team and played for the Scenic City Volleyball club. She is survived by her parents, Dusty and Jennifer Mitchell, as well as her siblings and extended family. A memorial service was held for her on November 13, 2021, at Chapel Hill United Methodist Church, followed by a burial at Chapel Hill Cemetery. The family has requested that instead of flowers, donations be made to specific funds in her memory.

Grace Eleanor Mitchell was a 17-year-old student from Dunlap, Tennessee who passed away on November 10, 2021. She was an active member of her community, attending Chapel Hill United Methodist Church and studying as a junior at Boyd Buchanan School. Athletic and spirited, Grace played on the Lady Bucs Volleyball team and also participated in the Scenic City Volleyball club. She leaves behind her parents, Dusty and Jennifer Mitchell, as well as her siblings and a large extended family. Grace was an individual full of promise and deeply loved by her community.
