This Disabled Pup Only Weighted 1 Pound, But Then Met Someone Special Who Changed His Life
Baby Felix was a little puppy who was surrendered to a shelter by his owner. Knowing that he needed more personalized care, the staff contacted Jamie’s Animal Rescue for some help.
Jamie immediately arranged for Felix’s transport to her rescue, based in Texas, and when she finally met him, she was shocked!
Tiny Pup
When Felix arrived at the Texas rescue, Jamie couldn’t believe how small he was, weighing only 1 lb.
Apart from his small appearance, Felix also suffered from severe mange – a skin disease caused by microscopic mites, as well as a belly full of intestinal worms.
Felix also had deformities in his legs, which were caused by serious malnutrition. In order for him to be able to walk properly, Jamie would have to work very hard.
However, with the right nutrition, supplements, and some good physical therapy, this little pup would be feeling brand new!
Road To Recovery
First and foremost, Jamie gave Felix some yummy food, so he could regain his strength. She also spent a lot of time with him, encouraging him and reminding him that he was in the right place.
After spending just a couple days at his new home, Felix already started feeling better!
Felix had regular checkups at the vet, making sure he was on the right track in his recovery journey.
Jamie was afraid of heart murmurs since it is a very common thing in Felix’s condition, but luckily, he was in the clear.
Jamie also encouraged him to do as much walking in the morning as he could since his legs were well-rested and able to carry his weight.
Since consistency is key, Jamie worked with Felix every single day, strengthening his muscles and nurturing him back to health.
In just 15 days with Jamie’s care, Felix was able to have fun playdates with his other four-legged friends.
In no time, Felix recovered completely and grew big and strong, ready for adoption!
Being so adorable and resilient, Felix was able to find a loving forever home that not only had loving hoomans, but also three adorable pups who love spending time and playing with Felix.
